WOWOWEE in RENO!
Sunday, June 10th, 2007Ako, minsan lang ako mag-Friendster blog, mainly because I think it’s below par than others. Pero this is too juicy to not share.
Surprise, surprise!
Nagulat kayo noh? Kasi magsusulat ako tungkol sa programang Wowowee. Hay ewan ba. I know it’s prolly a waste of my valuable vacant time XD and yours too, if you actually read this. But it’s an issue I just couldn’t pass up!
About a week ago, Wowowee held an episode/show n Reno, Nevada where their contestants are Filipinos who work, reside, immigrated, were raised in the USA. Now, in their segment/game Biga10, the contestants come with (1) a ‘talent’ (something that can make them look stupid, but they don’t give diddly-squat about that) and (2) a “sob story” (aka some story about what they’ve been though and such and such so the audience will give donation).
Ayun, tapos nanood kami ni Mommy kasi may kilala siya sa Reno and she said that her step-mom is one of the contestants dun nga sa Biga10 thing. So ayun, nood naman kami and we hear sob story after sob story. Not that I doubt that they miss their relatives here in the Philippines or that they are really working hard to earn a living for themselves and you know, sending some back home. There I was, thinking it’s a great sacrifice that they’re doing that, telling their story with tears running down their cheeks, with good ole Willie egging them on for juicier and more dramatized version of their reality.
Two days after, my mom’s friend calls her up from Reno and dishes the FREAKIEST, JUICIEST, and down right aaaaaaahhhhhhh! ~~ no words for it!
Inside information, baybee! Pano ba naman, closely knitted ang Filipino community sa Reno, the “biggest little city” nga naman. Eh ayun. XD
(1) Ganito kasi yun… yung unang babae (pag napanood nyo, you’ll know what I’m talking about), sabi nya 7 years na raw siyang hindi nakakauwi sa Pilipinas. Tapos the vignette of her three sons here in the Philippines support that.
And I have to say… oo nga. Pero accdg to mom’s friend:
Sus, last year lang — August — nasa Pinas yan eh. Yung isang anak niyang nasama nya, tibo yun… officemate ko. Every year daw umuuwi yang nanay niya.
It’s open to interpretation. It’s either “gagaguhin at dadagdagan” ni nanay o ng show mismo. Pwede ring either-or of both diba? Argh! The lengths that people go to talaga!
Lol, I call that banking on Filipinos’ (in Pinas) perception of what a garbage collector is.
Umabot nga raw ng $1500 and some yata. And if that wasn’t enough, binigyan pa ng ticket etong si Lolo ng Philippine Airlines pabalik ng Pinas. WHAAAAH?!
So ganito yung bersyon ni friend:
Nurse ang anak niyan. And a garbage collector here is faaaaaar better than a “basurero” dyan. Kumita pa ang [insert word here LMFAO].
Again, interpretations. Of the intent this time. Ano bang gusto nilang palabasin? And a free ticket at may pocket money pa ‘kamo. Shyet yan!
And finally, something that is close to friend’s heart… (3) her step-mom. XD Actually, her story is tamer than the previous ones mentioned. Her case, eh sugar-coating lang naman. Halos lahat naman ay may katotohanan. Ang kwento kasi ganito: hindi siya makabalik dahil busy kuno and all that, may mga trabaho, nag-iipon, walang pera. I was half-expecting the fickleness of the audience to kick in again.
I won’t go into some of the other things she said since it involves her family life na. All I can say is, colorful ang paraan kung paano siya/sila nakapag-immigrate sa US. Pwamis.
So ayun. Verdict? Last words?
Disclaimer (na nasa dulo na ng post): I did not post this or write this with the intent na sirain ang Wowowee o si Willie. I just find it overly ridiculous and sickeningly disgusting that they resort to such acts of lying to get sympathetic reactions from equally fickle people.
Kayo na lang ang humusga.
Peace.
